Injuries Treated by our Sports Chiropractor

Our sports chiropractor treats a wide variety of skeletal injuries caused by participating in a sport, recreational or physical activity, including shoulder, back and running injuries.

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can be caused by injuries to the rotator cuff, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, bursitis and arthritis. Symptoms of shoulder pain include pain, swelling, loss of range of motion and muscle weakness.

Back Pain

Back pain can be caused by an overuse injury, sprain or strain, herniated discs, misaligned vertebrae and spondylolisthesis. Symptoms of a back injury include loss of range of motion or flexibility, weakness and pain that radiates downward into the legs.

Running Injuries

Runners and avid joggers often encounter running injuries while training. Common injuries include shin splints, runner’s knee, Achilles tendonitis, sprains and strains and plantar fasciitis. Symptoms typically include pain that gets worse while running or performing a physical activity, swelling and soft tissue inflammation.

Chiropractic Care for Sports Injuries

Chiropractic care for sports injuries can help you heal faster so that you can continue your health and wellness journey through exercise and leading an active lifestyle.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments can help align spinal and extremity joints and keep them aligned. This is accomplished through gentle thrusts that are designed to reposition and maximize the range of motion of the affected joints. This treatment also helps reduce inflammation and pain.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is used to gently stretch specific sections of the back in order to alleviate pain and loss of range of motion that is caused by herniated discs and pinched, compressed or inflamed nerves.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is extremely beneficial for reducing muscle pain and restoring the flexibility of tight muscles, ligaments and tendons. It can also help break apart scar tissue and decrease healing times by improving the circulation to injured tissues.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

IASTM is a useful treatment for limited motion, pain during motion, motor control issues, or muscle recruitment issues. A medical grade steel instrument is used to detect and break up fascial adhesions in order to restore tissue function. Mechanical stimulation coupled with increased local blood flow and neurologic stimulation enables optimal healing and function.

Orthotics

Custom orthotics, which are inserts for your shoes, are made to help balance your body. They can help improve your posture, which can help reduce joint and back pain.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio taping involves the use of a special elastic sports tape that is designed to stabilize injured body parts while still allowing you the ability to move the injured area. The tape is available in a variety of colors and can be cut into different shapes, depending on your specific needs. The tape is stretched when it is applied, which helps it support the area. Kinesio tape can even be applied prior to exercise in order to prevent injuries.
